CURRENT JOYS: HOLIDAY EDITION

I don’t know about you, but as soon as the temperature drops, all I want to do is eat sweets and listen to Christmas music. To celebrate the coziest time of year, I’ve put together a little list of the things that bring me a lot of joy during the holidays including recipes, music and more! Hint Hint - some of these things would make excellent gifts!

Baking Cookbooks by Claire Saffitz

I can’t remember how I came across Claire Saffitz’s book Dessert Person, but boy am I glad I did! I am by no means a gifted baker, but Claire’s recipes are easy to follow and oh so delicious. My favorite thing to bake is her almond poppy seed bundt cake - it’s divine every time! I’m about to scoop up her new book What’s For Dessert next.

ARCHIVE NEW YORK

Everyone in my house is addicted to Archive New York’s fuzzy blankets and they are one of my favorite gifts to give to friends and family. Designer, Amira Marion, has the most amazing eye for color & pattern, and works with artisans in Guatemala, Mexico and India to produce Archive’s gorgeous textiles. I can’t get enough of their pillows and tabletop goodies either! My current obsession is anything in their rainbow striped Valentina fabric. 

GREAT JONES COOKWARE

I’ll do anything to inspire myself to cook more and this beautiful cookware by New York based company Great Jones is a delight to use in the kitchen! I love making soups, so my go-to is their Dutchess dutch oven (mine is bubblegum pink of course). And while I’m on the subject of soup, I cannot recommend Martha Stewart’s One Pot cookbook enough. It’s my favorite and I make recipes from this book at least twice a week. If you’re wondering, my faves soups are the sausage and sweet potato and the lentil cauliflower. YUM!

CARLY BECK

What better gift to receive than a portrait of your beloved fur child?! Carly Beck is an incredibly talented artist who creates the most wonderful, whimsical paintings of pets decked out in their finest outfits. She also designs wallpaper, home goods and handbags (under C.A.B. Collection) - what can’t she do?!? Her work always brings me joy :)

I just can’t help myself - I’ve been playing Christmas music since November 20th! Here’s the playlist that gets me in the holiday spirit. Highly recommend pouring yourself a glass of whatever cozy beverage you love, getting out those ornaments and putting this on. Enjoy!
